Aurora Memorial National Park

Location: The park is extremely rural and secluded. We've only encountered a handful of stops, so it's best to stock up on essentials if you're planning to take the route through here. The secluded location has its merits, though. The dense woodland and hills make it a nice place to do a slow drive and enjoy the scenery. Sadly, I was not able to encounter any of the wildlife that calls this place its habitat. Staff: Only a small outpost and some local residents are present here. I was not able to meet any of the staff that work here. The residents are the owners of the stores you will pass by. Other notes: The road through the park is extremely hazardous and has a lot of zigzags. There are a lot of spots that are under maintenance, which are either being cleared of landslide debris or roads being repaired. This route is not for the motion-sick people. They will become dizzy within the first few minutes of the ride here. Bring extra plastic bags to be prepared for any unwanted experiences. You will also pass by some resorts, camps, and restaurants that are perfect for that away-from-work activities.

Not the best way to take going to Baler by this time or during rainy season due to possible danger of landslide. The roads are on repair when we passed by,one very rough drive..(it's the route that wazed showed us) . And if you are planning to take this route, be prepared coz there are only few small shops ( sari- sari stores) to buy food just in case you get hungry or thirsty on the way. And make sure your fuel is enough to travel this 50+ km, your vehicle is in great condition and of course your body as well. There's a lot of zigzag so, those people that tends to get dizzy must prepare too . The good thing we've experienced passing this place is we enjoyed peace and quiet driving and the beautiful nature around.

Drove by on 29th December 2018. I couldn't find any recent reviews about passing thru this road as i was always curious. We asked the locals in Baler the road conditions and if it is safe for us to pass. They would all say the roads are very good but advise us to avoid as it recently rained. We followed our instincts and to our surprise the road is 99% concrete and there only like a few cars that we have seen thru almost 100kms of road. It was twisty all the way but the views are spectacular. There are some signa of rockslides and i advise to avoid during heavy rains. Always use the low gear to have better control of your car. A great drive indeed!

Aurora Memorial National Park Aurora Memorial National Park is a protected area of the Philippines located within the Sierra Madre mountain range between the provinces of Nueva Ecija and Aurora in Central Luzon. The park covers an area of 5,676 hectares stretching over 50 kilometers along the scenic Bongabon-Baler road. Established in 1937 by virtue of Proclamation No. 220, the park was dedicated to then First Lady Aurora Aragon Quezon. It had an initial area of 2,356 hectares. By 1941, its size more than doubled to its current area of 5,676 hectares. The maximum altitude of the park is reported to be 1,000 m, so the main forest type inside the park must be lowland dipterocarp, with only limited areas of montane forest. Land uses inside the park include both permanent and shifting agriculture (kaingin) and forestry.
